Biggest soccer league in the world

A championship that brings together about 700 teams, mobilizes almost 10,000 athletes and usually makes the city of Manaus "stop" every weekend to follow the disputes that occur in parallel in various fields of the city. This is the Peladão, competition that is titled as the "largest amateur soccer league in the world". Created in 1973, the championship is in the final stages of its 42nd edition.
This season, 642 teams registered in the five categories in dispute in Peladão: main, master (over 40 years), peladinho (up to 14 years old), female and indigenous. All of them compete for a cash prize (ranging from R $ 3,000 to R $ 20,000). But the biggest motivation of the players is the status of taking the title of Peladão champion to their community.
